Our Current Show: WONDER IN THE WOODS

A journey through the woods is truly a personal wonderland of adventure. It is a time to explore, enjoy the solitude and to get closer to nature. Headwaters Arts is proud to present “Wonder in the Woods”, a member’s group show featuring Lucy and Lawrence Kristan. Both talented wood turners who design and create beautiful art pieces. Creating organic vessels from local woods to delicate birds nesting. Joining the Kristan’s is Painter Marnie Cooke, who presents art on canvas that conveys an abstract interpretation of nature. Her background in dance follows through with her use of colour and movement in her paintings. Also in the show are works by aspiring wildlife photographer, William Mitchell, a recent graduate of the Niagara College Photography program.

This ultra-creative Headwaters Arts member’s group will present an exciting multimedia exhibition at the Headwaters Arts Gallery at the Alton Mill Arts Centre. Wonder in the Woods runs from July 1st until to August 3rd, 2026.

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather, and on which the Region of Peel operates, is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples inhabited and cared for this land. In particular we acknowledge the territory of the Ani-shinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples; the land that is home to the Metis; and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who are direct descendants of the Mississaugas of the Credit.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land, and by doing so, give our respect to its first inhabitants.
