In partnership with the Millcroft Inn, Headwaters Arts members can apply and be selected to hang their art here in the Headwaters Restaurant for a two month period.
The artwork is for sale and when you purchase art here, you are not only supporting a local artist, part of the proceeds goes to supporting Headwaters Arts, a local not-for-profit organization supporting local emerging and established artists in the Headwaters region.
Many thanks to the Millcroft Inn for graciously providing the opportunity for artist members of Headwaters Arts to display their art in the Headwaters Restaurant.

Marjorie Gegear
Marj Gegear is a Guelph, Ontario artist specializing in oil painting and focussing primarily on landscapes. An avid hiker and kayaker, she has taken inspiration from the rugged Canadian landscapes of Northern Ontario, the Maritimes, the west coast and further afield, scenes from the wilds of Scotland and Africa, where she climbed Kilimanjaro. From windswept skies and trees to urban landscapes and remote seascapes her paintings feature brilliant colours, immense skies and shifting light. She was featured in the 2026 Bruce Trail Calendar and has painting in homes in Canada, US and UK.
Her artistic journey began with sketching at an early age and led to channeling her artistic talents into making her own clothes. Later in life, while raising two sons and working full-time she took up making stained glass and mastered flower gardening. It wasn’t until she retired several years ago and took a friend up on an invitation to a painting course with renowned Canadian artist Gordon Harrison, that she discovered she has a real talent for painting. More courses with Harrison and other artists taught her the techniques of the Old Masters and the skill of mixing colours.
Over the past several years she has begun displaying her work in local cafes and businesses and held her first solo showing last winter where she sold more than half the 40 paintings on display. Her work now hangs in homes as far away as Montreal and Vancouver.
What Marj says about this collection:
“My inspiration for this series comes from my deep love and gratitude to this country. From coast to coast to coast, Canada is breathtaking and unique at every turn. I’m so grateful to live in a place where I can enjoy majestic mountains, pristine lakes, and vibrant, multicultural cities. The stunning scenery is a constant reminder of how privileged I am to enjoy such beauty. This inspires me to lift my paintbrush and humbly hope I can do it justice.”

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather, and on which the Region of Peel operates, is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples inhabited and cared for this land. In particular we acknowledge the territory of the Ani-shinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples; the land that is home to the Metis; and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who are direct descendants of the Mississaugas of the Credit.
We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land, and by doing so, give our respect to its first inhabitants.
