MaryLou Hurley’s mixed media mosaic art is all about passion, process and discovery. She sources mostly recycled art materials and repurposes them with design and creativity. Most often her art is born from her love of nature and hiking our beautiful Caledon forests.
The unique way she puts her mosaic together tells a story. As a mosaicist she uses ‘andamento’, placing rows of tesserae to determine the visual flow and direction, But as a contemporary artist, she enjoys breaking most other classical rules. Her use of mixed media adds engaging layers of interest and a work’s progress is often determined by raw materials on hand. Viewers are attracted by vibrant colours and her often surprising use of materials.
