Two weeks and three weekends made up the Headwaters Arts 26th Annual Fall Festival titled We Are Here! We had over 70 works of art spread through out the Alton Mill Art Centre in 4 galleries and the cafe. The opening reception was well attended by artists and guests alike who enjoyed music by the Sidemen and delicious hors d’oeuvres catered by Gregory’s.

Our jurors Joanne Poluch and Todd Tremeer selected 4 pieces to receive the awards:

  • Best in Show: A River Runs Through It by Susan Kelly
  • 2nd Place: Gran’s Sewing Machine by Diane Morgan
  • 3rd place: Train to Algoma by Sherry Park
  • Honourable Mention: Variations in Black and White by Uta Strelive

The Jurors Walk and Reception was also enjoyed by many.

A local band, The Campfire Poets, had a large crowd tearing up the dance floor for most of the evening on September 30. Naydo’s Potatoes, a food truck from Erin, kept everyone well fed!

The festival wrapped up with a Bookish Afternoon hosted by Nancy Frater and Booklore. The audience enjoyed three authors (Eva StachniakHouse of Mirrors; Bianca Marais, The Witches of Moonshyne Manor; and Steve Burrows, A Foreboding of Petrels) reading from their books with a discussion and reception following.

Headwaters Arts would like to thank everyone who supported us by browsing the gallery, buying event tickets, taking home some art and generally supporting all the participating artists. We would also like to thank the Alton Mill and Headwaters Arts staff and all the volunteers and sponsors who made this event possible.
