Scholarship Application
As Grade 12 students prepare to apply to Universities and Colleges, Headwaters Arts would like to invite them to apply to the Headwaters Arts Scholarship Fund.
The Headwaters Arts Scholarship Fund has been established to provide financial support to young artists pursuing a post secondary education in the fields of visual arts, dance, music, theatre and literature plus a new category of Directors Choice for ‘art’ outside of the defined categories listed above.
Students who live and attend high schools in the Headwaters Region are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

The 2022-2023 winners!
For the 2022-2023 Scholarships, the committee chose 3 winners from a number of very worthy entries.
For Visual Arts – Cynthia Nicholls
Cynthia attended Westside Secondary School and has always been passionate about all of the arts. She won the People’s Choice Award at her high school art show for a piece that highlighted the importance of removing plastic from the ocean. She was a part of both the Concert and Honour Bands and was presented with the Leadership Award from the Ontario Band Association.
Cynthia has been accepted at the Nipissing University where she is aspiring to become a high school teacher wanting to create an environment where teens can freely express themselves.
For Film and Media – Lindsay Watt
Lindsay attended Orangeville District Secondary School where she completed the Digital Media Course as well as the Senior Visual Arts Course. While there, she discovered the therapeutic qualities of storytelling through film, writing, and painting.
Lindsay has been accepted to Toronto Metropolitan University where she plans to explore different digital mediums enabling her to produce films focusing on real people with authentic stories. Her goal is to be featured in the film festival circuits.
For Creative Writing – Ava Brunton
Ava attended Orangeville District Secondary School where she completed Creative Writing and Writers Craft Courses as well as classes in Dance and Drama.
Ava has been accepted to Concordia University in the Bachelor of Arts program majoring in Creative Writing. Her goal is to secure a position as an English teacher while continuing her writing and journalistic endeavors.
