Our Current Show: DANCE OF LIGHT

Headwaters Arts Gallery is pleased to present, “Dance of Light”, a two- member show featuring painters Alina Lloyd from Orangeville and Anne Schnurr from Guelph. These two creatives became curious about the same subject – light. What followed was a conversation but not in words, but in brushstrokes. Dance of Light is the result of that dialogue between these two ultra-talented artists who have produced over 40 paintings in acrylic exploring how light shapes feelings, memory and place.

Meet the artists at the Opening Reception on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with music by Alla Kadish and Yuri Spektor in the Headwaters Arts Gallery. Let the light in!

While you are here you can also take in the Spring Awakening event running throughout the Alton Mill throughout the April 26, 27 weekend.

Dance of Light runs from April 23, 2025 – until May 25, 2025.

The Headwaters Arts Gallery is open Wednesday-Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m, and holiday Mondays and is located in the historic

Alton Mill Arts Centre, 1402 Queen Street West, Alton, Ontario.

Anne Schnurr

Anne Schnurr’s paintings  use dramatic shadows and captivating contrasts to create an expression of immediacy and intrigue. “They are a dance of light”, says Schnurr. Anne believes that art is essential for connecting people and uses her art as a vehicle for creating unity within our shared human experience.

Alina Lloyd

Alina Lloyd’s  work captures the shimmering pulse of the natural world- sunlight through the trees, the glow of wildflowers, the hush of northern skies – rendered with colour and care. “My paintings reflect a quieter presence of light – resting gently on surfaces, soaking into silence, often catching the viewer off guard with their subtlety,” says Alina.

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather, and on which the Region of Peel operates, is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples inhabited and cared for this land. In particular we acknowledge the territory of the Ani-shinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples; the land that is home to the Metis; and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who are direct descendants of the Mississaugas of the Credit.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land, and by doing so, give our respect to its first inhabitants.
