Headwaters Arts proudly presents its first Member Proposal Show of the year featuring acrylic abstract paintings by Nancy MacNabb and mixed media works by Patrice Baker. The new exhibition showcases over 80 works that explore the degree of bringing order to chaos in the wildness of life. Both artists wrestle with the obstacle of control in being creative yet they ride the waves and ultimately enjoy the joy of the journey. That joy is the goal of these two artists and their abstract artworks come into existence by both choice and chance.
Patrice Baker is a collector. Everything she finds becomes a conduit for newly created piece of art. She hand-builds bronze and copper constructions that hold or compliment found objects. Says Patrice.”Any material is fair game, and my final work is a wall piece or shelf box that invites the viewer to step forward and look deeply into the complexities hidden within”. Baker works from her studio in Fergus, Ontario.

Nancy MacNabb’s acrylic abstract paintings are filled with colour and movement and portray cohesion in complexity. Her works present small stories told in vibrant colours and dynamic markings. Says MacNabb, “Thinking and feeling meet in my art and my artistic journey has been one of experimental learning, moving from intellectual to intuition, and discovering middle ground”. Nancy is a retired physician based in Guelph, Ontario.
