Agnes Bellegris: ODE TO EQUUS
Horses have a captivating grace and powerful spirit with a rooted connection to humans and society as we know it. Ode to Equus, is a gratitude collection that explores the profound connection between humans and horses. Each is a celebration of the horse’s strength, grace and vulnerability.
As humans, we can learn from horses and their ability to be in the moment. They represent our best qualities of resilience, loyalty, and a capacity for deep emotional connection. Life and nature require balance, and horses this in their spaces.
In this collection, I strive to capture not just the physical form of the horse but also its spirit—its fluid movements, the quiet wisdom in its gaze, and its boundless energy. Through this work, I invite viewers to reflect on their own relationship with nature and the need to honor and protect the creatures who share our world.
May these pieces inspire a deeper appreciation for the horse’s graceful soul and the enduring lessons these animals offer us.

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather, and on which the Region of Peel operates, is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples inhabited and cared for this land. In particular we acknowledge the territory of the Ani-shinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples; the land that is home to the Metis; and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who are direct descendants of the Mississaugas of the Credit.
We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land, and by doing so, give our respect to its first inhabitants.
