Millcroft Inn Artworks
In partnership with the Millcroft Inn, Headwaters Arts members can apply and be selected to hang their art here in the Headwaters Restaurant for a two month period.
The artwork is for sale and when you purchase art here, you are not only supporting a local artist, part of the proceeds goes to supporting Headwaters Arts, a local not-for-profit organization supporting local emerging and established artists in the Headwaters region.
Many thanks to the Millcroft Inn for graciously providing the opportunity for artist members of Headwaters Arts to display their art in the Headwaters Restaurant.

Come walk with me; on the beach and in the forest as I share the emotion I experience in the beauty of nature. Be captivated by its colour, grandeur, and ever evolving, defining features.
The medium of mixed media mosaics enables me to capture special moments, many highlighted by the use of repurposed items including shells, vintage dishes and the sparkle of glass and costume jewellery. Discover little surprises in the uniquely arranged materials, my original perspective and colourful imagination! This all makes for a magical collection of nature scenes.

About MaryLou Hurley
MaryLou Hurley’s mixed media mosaic art is all about passion, process and discovery.
She sources mostly recycled art materials and repurposes them with design and creativity. Most often her art is born from her love of nature and hiking our beautiful Caledon forests.
The unique way she puts her mosaic together tells a story. As a mosaicist she uses ‘andamento’, placing rows of tesserae to determine the visual flow and direction, But as a contemporary artist, she enjoys breaking most other classical rules. Her use of mixed media adds engaging layers of interest and a work’s progress is often determined by raw materials on hand. Viewers are attracted by vibrant colours and her often surprising use of materials.
MaryLou Hurley is both instructor and artist at True Blue Lou Mosaic Studio in Caledon East, Ontario. Her own unique creations can be found in many galleries, including the Headwaters Arts Gallery in Alton, Ontario. In 2023 she hosted her first successful solo exhibition at the Women’s Art Association in Toronto.
“For me, life IS art and I see it everywhere. And it is found in the simplest of details.” MaryLou Hurley

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather, and on which the Region of Peel operates, is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples inhabited and cared for this land. In particular we acknowledge the territory of the Ani-shinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples; the land that is home to the Metis; and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who are direct descendants of the Mississaugas of the Credit.
We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land, and by doing so, give our respect to its first inhabitants.
