Headwaters Arts presents, “The View from Here”, a full gallery of 35 works by 20 member artists whose pieces capture a multitude of subject matter from individual view points, perspectives, and vantage points in a variety of mediums including: fibre, acrylic, oil, ink and watercolour painting, mixed media, blown glass/sandblasted/crystal, transfers on wood, refractory cement, stained/fabric piano keys, hand-made paper and sheet glass. Even when we look in the same direction we all view it differently. Participating artists include: Pat Hertzberg, Susan Kelly, Nancy MacNabb, Susan Powell, Mina Zare, Mary Perkins, Denise Lini, Michelle Eissler, Jessica Law, Jackie Gaistman, Manuela Stefan, Julie Park, Helen Duplassie, Stella Capogna, Anne Schnurr, Aimee Higgins, Del Foxton, Emily Graetz, Kathryn Thomson and Marnie Cooke.
Member Denise Lini from Oakville, explains her works, “My hope is that my pieces always give the viewer a different perspective ‘their view from here or there’ of nature’s everyday compositions.
Says Susan Kelly, oil painter, ”What we see is determined by the atmosphere. Our view can be very clear and intense, or, it can be much reduced. Either way it can tell a rich story.”
“The view from where I am can be quizzical, silly or just a whole different vantage point. The view from here can be whatever is in front of or behind my eyes”, says the immensely talented glass artist Kathryn Thomson, of Amaranth, Ontario.
Meet the artists and join us for an Opening Reception on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 1-3pm at the Headwaters Art Gallery in the Alton Mill Arts Centre, Alton, Ontario. “The View from Here” runs from July 6, 2022 until August 7, 2022.
