We acknowledge that the land on which we gather, and on which the Region of Peel operates, is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples inhabited and cared for this land. In particular we acknowledge the territory of the Ani-shinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples; the land that is home to the Metis; and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who are direct descendants of the Mississaugas of the Credit.
We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land, and by doing so, give our respect to its first inhabitants.
Headwaters Arts is thrilled to present Wanderlust, the fourth members' exhibition of the year. Running from May 27 through June 28, 2026, in the Headwaters Arts Gallery in the Alton Mill Arts Center, this exhibition showcases a deeply diverse collection of emotional, colourful,
and moving works by 32 talented member artists. Expressing their own unique paths and "defiant
dreams," the artists utilize a wide variety of mediums including oil, watercolour and acrylic paintings,
ceramics, painted stone, photography, wood, fibre, and mixed media.
“Wanderlust - Or, born to wander - that has always been me. Will I get to the moon? I had always thought
I would go to the moon with my family one day. Today it seems again more possible. But, to wander this
world brings so much joy - both the near and the far away, and the in between.
My paintings often capture our natural elements - the sound and fullness of the waves on a blustery day;
the layered beauty of a mountain vista; or the way the upper branches of birch trees turn pink when they
have lost their leaves, says painter.” Susan Kelly.
The lust to wander takes me to these beauties and challenges an interpretation.
